Alex McConnell – Update
I have just received this message from David McConnell of Redcraig:
It is with the deepest regret I inform the association of the passing on my dad Alex McConnell on Tuesday 25th.
Alex had been a member of Redcraig since the early 60s and became the clubs most successful shooter winning the Scottish Championship Earl Haig in the mid 70s, he went on to represent club, County and Country on numerous occasions.
He was a passionate small bore shooter and loved nothing more than competing at club level where he made many friends and putting the sport and world to right at the after-shoot tea and cakes.
At 94 he enjoyed his sport for decades and when he was due to his “senior” years unable to shoot still took a keen interest always asking who was shooting where and how everyone was doing.
At the moment funeral arrangements are not known.
This writer is privileged to have known Alex for many years and personally I am very sad to hear of his passing. I’m sure that all who knew him would like to offer their condolences to the family (many of which took up shooting too – there have been at least four McConnells in the club).
UPDATE:
Alex’s funeral will be held at 3pm on Tuesday 11th March at Livingston Crematorium.
